Re: Weld Test Tool

I have reviewed your equipment with the specific intention of assessing its ability to test piping components or cylinders succesfully. I offer the following comments:

When used correctly to perform hydrostatic or pressure tests of piping or cylindrical vessels this testing equipment does not in any way interfere with the intention or requirement of the codes typically associated with the same, namely the ASME Section VIII Division 1 and the ANSI B31.3.

Some additional comments of interes are as follows:

The compression of the rubber seal at either end of the test plug will introduce an increase in the longitudinal and circumferential stresses which are under investigation during a hydrostatic test. This increase is minimal due to the fact that the load required to seat a gasket of rubber material is less than 1000 psi. Even if the results are distorted it will be a conservative distortion at a very localised area in most cases away from the circumferential weld under investigation.
The testing arrangement can be compared to that of a jacketed cylinder where the outer jacket is the component under investigation. The inner jacket is the removable test plug.
We hope these review comments are helpful in your intentions with this unique product.
